This apples has its origins in France dating back to the late 1700s. It has been in this country since at least 1817. The fruit is large and the skin thick, tough and smooth. It is bright yellow with a wash of red. The flesh is yellowish green, coarse, tender and very juicy, It is mildly subacid and somewhat aromatic.
