By
calling them "Heirloom" or "Antique"
apples, people mean apples that are no longer grown
commercially in large amounts. This can be for a number
of reasons and does not reflect on the quality or
taste of the apples. Some of the older apples either
brused easily, or were more prone to certain diseases
which made them less desireable for the growers.
However,
there are many people who still grow these older varieties
and make sure that the world does not lose these fruits
of the past.
They
are not grown in large quantities, and not all of
them are available every year, but we offer than as
they ripen and become available. If the order button
does not work for the apple you want, it is because
we do not have them ready to ship.
You can check the available
apple list for complete information on what is
ready for shipping. If the apple you want is not listed,
check again in a week or so so see if it has ripened,
or contact
us and we will be able to tell you the status
of the apple. |
